Dr. Goodwin is a Spine Surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery and a spine consultant at Island Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. He specializes in the diagnosis of diseases of the cervical and lumbar spine, recommending conservative treatment when possible.  If conservative treatment fails, he performs, when indicated, adult reconstructive cervical and lumbar spine surgery, stressing minimally invasive techniques, such as microsurgery and endoscopic fusions.  He is considered one of the world's leaders on the research and development of endoscopic fusion techniques.  He has served as Chairman of the Professional Liability and Defense Board of New York State, He has been an orthopedic consultant for the New York Mets, New York Knicks, and the US Tennis Association.
